(EXPANSION PROJECT)

Southern Iron and Steel Company Limited (SISCOL) is an Associate Sector company of TIDCO has set up an Integrated Steel Plant at a project a cost of Rs.1035 crores. ICICI initiated financial restructuring and identified Mr. Sajjan of Jindal Group, as a new promoter of SISCOL under Corporate Debt Restructuring (CDR) scheme to increase the steel making capacity to 1 lakh tonnes from 3 lakh tonnes per day by installing one more Blast Furnace, Sinter Plant, Steel Plant, Caster, Oxygen Plant etc., at the capital cost of Rs.400 crores and also setting up Coke Oven Plant (2.55 lakh tonnes per year). The Associate Sector Agreement was executed on 17.12.2004 by TIDCO with M/s. Vrindavan Services Private Limited (VSPL), a Sajjan Jindal Group company as a new promoter in SISCOL in the place of Lakshmi Machine Works.The investment of TIDCO is Rs.45.37 crores.

The Company has made a profit of Rs 41.26 crores as on 31.3.2006 A power plant of 30 MW has already been commissioned. The complete expansion project is expected to be completed by March 2007.
